Cultural History Assignment and Rubric

Cultural History Report – Due May 7

INTRODUCTION
·         Introduce the CRAZY part(s) of your project, describing it briefly (what does it look like, what does it mean…)
·         Identify which genre it fits into and why
BODY
·         Provide examples of how your topic or aspects of your topic have been portrayed in:
o   Literature (novels, comic books, manga, graphic novels…)
o   Movies
o   TV
o   Video Games
o   Anything I left out J
·         Mention the major similarities and differences in the way the culture has depicted your topic
·         You may want to organize your information chronologically or by media type
CONCLUSION
·         Your closing remarks are really up to you, but here are some suggestions for wrapping up the report:
o   Discuss whether most people see this topic as fiction or reality
o   Start to hint at how your topic relates to science, or what you’ll be researching for your scientific research report
o   Comment on any fandoms that revolve around your topic
o   Discuss whether your topic is important to our culture and why

Many cultural connections are made to literature, movies, TV, etc. The connections are discussed thoroughly. The genre is identified and explained correctly. The closing comments wrap up the report and provide closure.

The presentation and discussion of cultural connections are robust and demonstrate exceptional depth and breadth of research. The genre is identified and explained correctly. The closing comments wrap up the report and provide closure.

The report is lacking flow, due to an absence of transitions. The vocabulary is simplistic. Many of the sentences start the same way or have the same rhythm. The content is repetitive in some places.
